Few dairy farmers still do small square bales and we have considered switching in order to save on physical labour, but the way our barn's set up, small bales work best. While it's labour intensive, it does make feeding the cattle pretty convenient during those bitterly cold winter months when starting machinery can be somewhat troublesome. We readily admit though, watching those big balers finish up a field in a fraction of the time sure is tempting...
